Japan launched the floating solar power plant
Experts have noted that the floating solar power plant is an excellent solution for Japan. After all, this is quite a densely populated country. Japanese high-tech company Kyocera announced the completion and connection to the network of 2 floating solar power stations with the capacity of 1.7 MW and 1.2 MW. Both stations are located in the bays of Hyogo Prefecture, as “Economic true” reports. A more powerful solar station (1.7 MW) was placed in the Gulf of Nishihara, the another station (1.2 MW) was placed in the Gulf Higashihara. For the construction of the two plants more than 11 000 special modular fixtures, developed by Kyocera, were used. It is through these modules, the solar panels are kept in the water. In general, the power of each solar module from Kyocera is 255 watts. It is expected that two stations will generate 3 thousand 3 hundred megawatts per year. Electricity produced from solar modules will be sold by local power company Kansai Electric Power Co. with profitable “green” tariff in force in Japan. The company notes that the floating solar power has several advantages. Due to the permanent location in an aqueous medium, the system itself will be cooled, which greatly enhance its performance. In addition, the platform design will reduce evaporation of water and formation of harmful algae. The company also noted that the whole structure is designed from environmentally friendly materials which are for hundred percent recycled: floating modules are created using a high-density polyethylene, which is able to withstand prolonged exposure of solar radiation. Furthermore, the entire platform structure has been developed with enhanced resistance to harsh weather conditions. For example, the platform is able to withstand typhoons. In general, experts have noted that the floating solar power plant is an excellent solution for Japan. After all it is a densely populated country. In addition, the construction of solar power plants requires considerable space, the surface of which, moreover, must be flat. Therefore, the solar station on the water – is an ideal solution for the island country.
